Pet Urns: Urn Craftsmanship

Every urn is made to order. The urn is hand crafted by Bob from Wood'n It Be Nice. Bob is a local wood craftsman that specializes in beautiful hand made wooden jewelry boxes. He designed the urns specifically for me after I received a request from one of my clients that loved my tile work and suggested I make a special memorial.

Handcrafted Boxes
As a craftsman, Bob put together some beautiful wood combinations for you to choose from. The grains and colors of the woods work beautifully together and compliment each other. Since each urn is made to order, you can select a different type of wood or wood combination. If Bob feels your wood combination won't work, I'll work with you and Bob to create a perfect combination of woods for your urn.

Each urn is made from natural wood - the wood will change color as it ages and each piece of wood will be different from others. (So, if you order a cherry urn and next year order another cherry urn - the cherry wood may and probably will be different in color) -- this is just the natural beauty of the natural wood.

Custom Tiles
To finish off the urn and make it truly a wonderful tribute, I create a ceramic tile from your photograph. The tile is permanently inlaid into the urn. The tile will consist of a photograph and any text that you specify. The tile is created using a process called dye sublimation - this is a process where your image/text is dyed into the tile. This is not a decal, but a dying process, so there is nothing that will peel off - the tile is actually dyed with the image. The images are as bright as vibrant as the original photograph. Your photograph is NOT destroyed in the process -- you do receive any hard copy photographs back with your urn.

How the Urn Works
When you receive the urn, it will be complete with the tile. For every urn, there is a compartment for the remains in the bottom of the urn. The compartment is covered with a piece of wood that is screwed into place. You will remove the screws that are on the bottom of the urn to remove the cover plate. Insert the remains into the urn (keep the remains inside the plastic bag they they came in -- do not take the remains out of the bag) and fit the wood cover back into place securing it with the screws. If you do not want to transfer the remains, please ask your crematory to do this service for you.

Flip Top Urns
I have one urn that has an additional compartment. This is called the flip top urn. The remains are still placed into the bottom of the urn. On the top of the urn, is a compartment that has a piece of wood and a velvet type lining to keep the remains unseen. This compartment can be used for collars, tags, pictures, leashes, etc.
