Why does Artistic Oasis offer urns, it seems to be out of your main business?
I do volunteer work for an exotic animal sanctuary called Valley of the Kings (www.votk.org). I was showing Jill from VOTK the tile gift boxes that I made. She absolutely loved the tile work and suggested that I make urns with the tiles. She felt that there were no truly beautiful personalized urns available and thought that a handcrafted urn finished with a tile would make a fitting tribute to a beloved friend. So, I started researching and was unable to find something that I would find a beautiful tribute. So, I contacted a local woodworker and he created the prototypes for the urns. I don't make that many urns, and every time I think about not offering them, I get a beautiful touching letter from a client - the urns really help the healing process and so I keep making them.

Will you accept digital pictures from me?
Yes, a high quality digital picture is perfectly usable. I can not take small digital images taken with a cell phone (they are just too small). If you have any questions about whether your digital image will work, please contact me so that I can see the picture and help to make that decision.

I have a picture from a professional photographer that I want to use on my urn/plaque, can I use it?
I can use a picture from a professional photographer IF I can obtain a release from the photographer for the use of the image. I have never had one tell me no - but it is up to their discretion and they have the right to say no. I can obtain the release for you or you can send one with the image. If you need me to do this, I will need the name and phone number of the photographer.

What size urn do I need?
The general rule is 1 cubic inch per pound. So, a 100 pound animal would require 100 cubic inches. A 50 pound animal would require 50 cubic inches. If you are unsure and you have a canister with the remains, you can measure the canister - length x height x width and that would tell you the amount of cubic inches you have. Make sure the urn you order has a cubic inch larger than that. If you have questions, please contact me 866-913-8625

How is the urn sealed once I am ready?
On the bottom of all the urns is a wood piece secured onto the urn by screws. If you remove the screws and remove this wood piece, you will put the remains inside and then put the wood piece back and the secure the screws. Be sure that you keep the remains in the bag -- do not take them out of the bag.

I see an urn that I like but not in the woods that I want, what do I do?
Any urn can be special ordered in any of the listed woods (standard woods: Cherry, Oak, Walnut, Mahogany, or Maple and exotic woods: Zebra Wood, Bloodwood, Teak, or Figured Maple). We can usually also make the urn in other woods by special request.
